Bethany’s eyes opened to the knock sounding from the bedroom door. Immediately, she looked at Ren, who was sitting right next to her on the bed with his firm body turned towards her. She would’ve known he was close instantly as she’d woken with an intense throbbing coming from between her thighs. The telltale signs from her thrumming heart, and quick breaths gave that away too.

Whoever was there needed a fucking good excuse for disturbing her ‘possible sexy time’ with Ren.

“Rosie.” Bethany recognised that it was Marjorie. “Are you all right?”

“She wants to check on you,” Ren said, his eyes almost black as they raked over her body.

The silk of the vest top was clinging to her hardened nipples as they protruded from the fabric. He briefly glanced at the door, and the lock clicked open.

“Come in,” Bethany said, shocking herself as Rosie’s voice came out.

The door opened slowly, and Marjorie peered nervously around the corner. “I’m sorry to disturb you, but I was wondering if you needed anything?” she asked, her voice shaking.

“No, thank you, Marjorie. I think I’m just going to rest now,” she replied with a smile.

All she wanted was for the door to lock again and to see whether she could miraculously go straight back to sleep and pick up where they’d left off.

“I want that too,” Ren said from beside her, licking his lips.

“Marjorie…” she said when the woman began to back away. “Could you please let the others know I’m sleeping for a while?”

Marjorie blinked, and her mouth opened with a confused look on her face. “Oh, yes. I will, Rosie. Is there anything else I can do for you?”

Yes, shut the door!

“No, thank you.”

“Very well,” Marjorie replied before closing the door again.

Bethany took no time in focusing her attention on Ren. The powerful connection between them was stronger than ever. “Did that really happen?” she asked.

“Yes.” His lips turned up into a broad smile. His dimples flashed causing Bethany to sigh.

“Will that be possible again?” she asked, feeling embarrassed at wanting it even though she could sense the same from him.

“I hope so.” His voice dropped low, the rumble sending shivers down her spine.

“Let’s hope I get tired really soon,” she whispered, letting her hand slide across the bed toward his hand as it rested on the cover.

“Oh My God…”

They both stopped breathing—well, Bethany did—when they touched. It took a moment for it to register that it had actually happened before Ren spread his fingers and interlocked them with hers.

“I don’t understand. This…this shouldn’t happen.”

“I’m not going to question it,” she said quickly in case whomever, or whatever, that had made it happen changed their mind.

Bethany moved her hand inward, pulling Ren's hand to her. This time, he didn’t argue about getting closer. Instead, he followed by turning completely to her and leant towards her.

Releasing their entwined fingers, Ren placed his hand on the bed to her right, looming over her. The heat running through Bethany was causing her limbs to shake, and her heart to jackhammer.
